In
the 1930s, Americans began traveling to Mexico and the Yucatan on
vacations. During that
decade, American metalsmiths and jewelry designers set up studios there,
inspired by old cultures, local artisans and tourists who clamored for
souvenir treasures.
One such treasure may have been a necklace similar to ours.
Featuring a turquoise "calavera" (skull) within a wreath of colorful metal flowers. Lobster claw clasp.
Pendant is 1.5" long x 1.25" wide.
Burnished bronze metal finish.
