This chunky Egyptian statement bracelet is loaded with wonderful genuinely antique glass elements. I originally designed it for the "Golden Age of Pharaohs" world museum tour. It's immensely popular in our shop. The glass pharaoh charms and blue goddess are genuine vintage elements from the 1930s. Then, there's the hieroglyphics tablet, the scarab locket, a pyramid locket, coiled jeweled serpent, a python weaving in his basket, a mummy which can be "excavated" from his sarcophagus, a jet cat much like Napoleon's and an old cask of magic oil which has been sealed for centuries. Bracelet closes with an Ankh toggle clasp. All these treasures are bold, yet delicate and deserve your appreciative care while wearing. Warm bronze metal finish. Signed and copyrighted Sweet Romance. Made in our Los Angeles studio.
Size: 8" long (adjustable for shorter length) and the charms are about 1" L x 1" W.
Shelley's comments: The wondrous discovery of Tutankhamen's tomb in 1929 did not exactly begin the fascination with ancient Egypt. It did, however, profoundly influence archaeology and popular culture. The undisturbed intact articles found in Tut's tomb became icons of romance and mystery. Egyptian motifs began to appear in the stylized art deco facades of buildings and in decorative arts. Bohemian glass factories produced decorated elements to be used in the creation of "artifact" jewelry. My charm bracelet is inspired by the wonderful kitsch jewelry that is now found only in the domain of an advanced collector.
